Goals
The WMO goals are the following (as stated in “Article 2: Objectives” of the Statute):
- Creating a worldwide network of mimes (World Mime Network) and mime enthusiasts;
- Bringing together mimes and other artists – professionals, amateurs, educators, fans, audience;
- Bringing together the institutions that focus on mime and other arts and non-verbal communication – companies, schools, festivals, theaters, media, production companies, and other legal entities and informal groups;
- Studying, developing, and improving mime;
- Studying, developing, and improving art, especially the dramatic and audio and visual arts;
- Studying, developing, and improving non-verbal communication;
- Educating people of all ages about mime and training for work in mime and art, especially the dramatic and audio and visual arts and non-verbal communication;
- Educating people of impaired hearing about mime and for working in mime and art, especially the dramatic and audio and visual arts and non-verbal communication;
- Establishing a global database in the aforementioned areas
- Promoting and re-establishing mime as a mainstream art-form
- Defining and protecting the rights of mimes
- Representing joint interests of WMO members before international, state, and other bodies and organizations for art, culture, and sports; participating in preparations of regulations that are of interest for WMO members and providing opinion on drafts and proposals for such regulations;
- Taking necessary action to improve and popularize mime and art, especially the dramatic and audio and visual arts and non-verbal communication;
- Organizing and providing professional assistance to its members in improving their work;
- Organizing professional development of human resources in mime and art, especially the dramatic and audio and visual arts and non-verbal communication;
- Establishing the rules of conduct for its members in their mutual relationships;
- Working on the development of ethics and artistic and sports spirit of its members;
- Organizing work with children, young people, and other persons with disabilities or arrested development, as well as special competitions, festivals, and additional education for them;
- Encouraging the efforts of its members through awards and acknowledgements for exceptional results and contributions to the development and improvement of mime in Serbia and the world;
- Establishing international cooperation in accordance with the adopted international policy of the WMO;
- Organizing and ensuring the functioning of a unified information system for the purposes of mime and providing required information to its members through its own information system in the country and abroad;
- Planning and organizing international competitions, festivals, and additional education and events in the country and abroad
